Kara takes a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to practicing medicine, focused on getting to know her patients and their values in order to develop individualized health plans that best suit their needs. She prides herself in providing a non-judgemental and accepting environment for her patients. While able to provide comprehensive care for a wide array of health needs, she is particularly interested in adolescent, women's, and LGBTQ+ care. She also welcomes any opportunity to practice travel medicine and enjoys preparing her patients for international travel. To stay healthy and happy, Kara practices yoga regularly, enjoys time spent in nature, and travels when possible. She loves to cook and to explore the city’s food scene. And she finds live music and time spent with loved ones are great for the soul. Kara earned her medical degree at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine-pediatrics residency and a masters in public health degree at the University of Minnesota. While completing an Academic General Pediatrics fellowship at the University of Minnesota, she focused her energies on older children and adolescents, learning how to best address their needs, collaborate with their parents, and prepare them to transition from their pediatric to adult care. She is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.
